Robert has a pirate game in which you have to go around collecting treasure (in this case plastic coins...) but it gave us an idea, and we went out on an expedition of our own up a local hill to collect some 'natural treasure'. It's obviously the perfect time of year for this and he had great fun crawling under hedges, up the forest path, around the walled garden, and searching under trees and soon filled his little backpack with all sorts of leaves, twigs and seeds. The first thing we did with them when we got home was to sort them:


and then he arranged the fir cones by size:


We have also done leaf prints and rubbings and i can feel lots of other crafty activities coming on....
I love autumn!
