The children and I took the local minibus to Shek O today, a village on the southeast coast of Hong Kong Island. It's sandy beach is quieter than it's counterparts in more accessible areas and the children had great fun paddling in the sea, building sandcastles, digging holes:

and eating chocolate icecream:

The area has a laid back feel, there are a few shops selling beach toys and swimwear and some informal restaurants:

We went to the Thai one for dinner:
