Shine like stars

"Do everything without complaining... so you shine like stars in the universe." This was the theme of the toddler's Sunday School group at church this morning (from Philippians 2:14-15) and it seemed to really capture their imagination. Many children are fascinated by space, Robert is one of them. He loves blasting off his rocket, taking his spaceman on adventures, pointing out the moon in the sky, and the first nursery rhyme he learnt to sing was twinkle twinkle... It reminded me of the 'From Earth to the Universe' exhibition we saw recently in Edinburgh's St Andrews Square Gardens. The photographs were incredible - I can't claim to understand the scientific details of the astronomy but I could appreciate the spectacular colours and patterns that were formed and the awesomeness and beauty the images conveyed. The exhibition has left Edinburgh now but is being shown around the world. Here are a couple of similar pictures:

The song 'Indescribable' by Chris Tomlin also came to mind, the words and video are very appropriate and I find them quite powerful.

One little boy today when asked how we know stars are there, replied 'because they are full of light.' Wouldn't that be great, to be full of light and shine like stars.
