Danshui

We got the MRT (underground train) to the Northernmost point of the line at Danshui to explore this costal town this morning. There is a market running the length of the Old Street selling all kinds of things including...

clothes and underwear... 

antiques (?)...

snacks, meat, and seafood...

and much more.  Yes, this man is driving through the narrow lanes on his scooter and he wasn't the only one!

We emerged at the other end of Old Street near the sea and were pleasantly surprised to find this promenade along the coast lined with trees, benches, and many cafes and souvenir shops: 

After a rest and an icecream we had a wander along and came across a ferry. 

We hopped on and it took us across the water to Bali (no, not that Bali!)

There were a number of crafty souvenir shops and the children helped choose a few goodies to take home to remind us of our trip.
