It is a waterpark with the large landscaped pool in the foreground, and further in the distance is the children's pool, toddler pool, water rapids ride, wave pool, flume rides and beach with watersports activities. We all had a great time there!
The view from the other side of our hotel is somewhat different. I took these photos from the taxi as we drove through the streets from the airport:

I was surprised at the level of poverty in the country, something I wasn't expecting. I went out to explore one afternoon with my daughter, hoping to find a local market. There were simple fruit stalls along some of the streets but no one could direct us to a market, instead the taxi driver took us to the local shopping centre. Inside were a number of small shops mostly selling clothes or food, and one larger department store. I was surprised to hear them playing music by Chris Tomlin, one of my favourite Christian Artists, though perhaps I shouldn't have been as many people here are Christians. I stocked up on some suncream and snacks. Fortunately I had the chance to buy some local handcrafted souvenirs - a couple of neclaces for me, an embroidered sarong for the children to play with and a purse that they each chose - the next day at the aiport on our way home.
